Side Stories # 5: The New Baby

Kitten was desperate to feel like a real family, and everyone poked fun at her for such. As a child, despite her magical properties and obvious tie to the most royal of them all, she did not seem to care for combat, nor was she swayed by money and shiney objects. She just wanted a family. Annoyed by this, her parents did not follow her when she left just before her sixteenth birthday. Anglios, the God of Hunt, and Kitten’s own father, denied her.

Here she lay, next to her husband, whom she was sure would be beaming had he possessed a face, holding her three day old daughter. She was beautiful from the minute Kitten laid eyes on her, with the signature Plattian traits, and also sharing a few traits from her father. But there was this nagging feeling in the back of her mind. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

Later that night, after putting Emily to sleep, she pulled out her journal and took a look inside to refresh her memory of the future she was said to fulfill. She was greatly displeased with what she saw…

Side Stories #4: Mysterious Ring

Slenderman kept staring at the ring he found in his pocket. How could it have gotten there? He didn’t know, he couldn’t remember. He did, however, know that the size of the ring was the same size Kitty wore.

They had been living together in the mansion for almost a year, without complication. She still had yet to meet his proxies, but he was certain she would be liked by them. She even turned the other way, ignoring when Slender killed periodically, understanding that he had to kill in order to survive.

She had recently started asking Slender to stay with her until she fell asleep at night. But last night, when she fell asleep, he didn’t leave. He couldn’t. He layed with her all night. He had never noticed how warm she was, or how beautiful she was when asleep, until then.

He knew she would stay no matter what, and it wasn’t like they were worried about “living in sin”, but the gesture mattered to him. He knew that that night was the night to make Kitty his wife.

Side Stories #3: Treehouse

Kitty and Slenderman walked through the woods leisurely for a short while, Kitty laughing as they talked for hours.

They ran across an old treehouse, but the ladder was long gone. “Slender? Is it safe to go up there?” Slenderman teleported up to the treehouse, taking a look around, determining it was safe. He had a feeling he’d been there before, but no recollection of actually being there.

“Slender!” Kitty called. “May I come up with you?” Slenderman teleported her into the treehouse with him. As they sat in the treehouse, Kitty picked up a journal that was laying in the corner and opened it to the first page.

After reading silently with Slenderman peering over her shoulder, she looked up into the blank faceless face. “You helped a little girl survive?” He shrugged. “I don’t remember.” She smiled. “There’s hope for you yet.”

Side Stories #2: Kitty in the Mansion

Kitty was always a little bit afraid of fulfilling her destiny. She was unsure that she could be trusted to carry the child that would spawn a long line of Platt’s best warriors in it’s history. She wasn’t even sure that Platt would still be standing in the end. She turned her colar to the wind and looked up at the tall creature who would one day be her husband, and she smiled politely at him.

Then she took of skipping childishly through the forest, Slenderman openly pursued, but lagged behind. She hopped across the river, to which she heard him rather calmly remind her to be careful. Once across the river, Slender teleported behind and continued following her until he caught up with her. She turned to face him, smiling.

“I know who you are. I know what you are. And I’m not afraid of you.” To which he replied. “I am very glad to hear that. Would you like to see my mansion?” She nodded and followed him inside.

In the rather large entryway, full of dust and broken furniture, she could see something large covered in a sheet. Before he could stop her, she removed the sheet, revealing a large enchanted mirror. In the refelection, Slender had a handsome face, while Kitty had none. She turned and asked him why.

“This mirror is enchanted to show you what you wish to be… who you are at heart.”

Side Stories #2: Kitty in the Mansion

Black Man/Shadow Man

I was only about five or six years old when we moved from our appartment into this house that we live in now. It’s over a century old, with additions and different sections in the house that used to reflect the last decade in which they were decorated.

I don’t remember ever been “visited”- or haunted- by the man until we moved in. I don’t remember when it started, but I have many memories of him, or multiple beings even, but I just lump them all together as one.

This story will be in sections of which “man” I’m speaking of.

Silouette Man

I was taking a shower in the downstairs bathroom. It was nighttime, and used to have dark panelling, no windows, and a single flourescent light that had to be turned on early in the morning and left on all day if we wanted light.

That said, there was a lot of shadow in the shower, and I hated how creepy it felt (there were also creepy mirrors, but I’ll get into mirrors on a different post). On one particular night, I had to hurry because some pretty nasty storms were coming. I was in the shower for about ten minutes, just finishing up, when I noticed not just my own shadowed silouette on the wall, but another person’s facing mine. They opened their mouth and had sharp teeth, and growled at me. I hopped out quickly and hurried out, to find it already storming pretty bad.

Mirror Man

One mirror thing I’ll also address next time on my mirrors post is this guy. A brief passing shadow or glimpse of a man beside or behind me in a reflective surface off and on since we got there. It startles me, but there isn’t much else to tell.

Shadow Man

This one will be more extensive.

I sleep in the room my parents used to have when we first moved in, alone. I often feel like I’m being watched or think I see shadows shifting while I’m there, as well as throughout the house. It’s particularly terrifying when I can identify a body shape and sometimes even eyes among the darkness.

One especially chilling even occured when I was sleeping. I dreamed of a man trying to rape me, but he was only a shadow. I was paralyzed and could not wake up until he’d had his way with me. When I woke, I saw a shadow figure, not in the doorway or lingering in the corners, but bent over my bed with beady eyes, and he growled “I am Chuck”, before vanishing.

For months and even years after, “Chuck” would come back to me. I had many dreams of being violated or otherwise harmed by him, or fighting him off, and would often wake to see him in the hallway when I went to the restroom.

The lightswitch to the overhead light is on the outside of my room, and the lamp light doesn’t help at night, as it casts a creepy glow. I haven’t seen him in a while. I just hope he stays gone, I have plenty of new spooks to deal with.

Black Man

No, not African-American man. A faceless, but solid figure, often shadowed or charred, and featureless. I had many dreams of him, too. Although, they were scary, and often of a sexual nature, I never felt pain or woke up with lingering feelings of fear. In fact, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen him outside of a dream. But, this man was very sinister, and raped me often. And even though I only saw him in dreams, I was always wearing what I was wearing while asleep, laying where I was laying while asleep. And unlike shadow man, he would attack when I wasn’t alone, such as sleeping on the couch, or when I still shared a room with my sister, and would follow me from house to house.

I don’t want to ever see any of these men again.

My Abilities

When I was ten years old, I kept having a strange recurring dream. It was of a view of the top of a building, and there was a man running on the rooftop. There were also three smoke stacks in the distance, an airplane going diagonally across the sky, and a silver Jeep was driving past in the street below. By the position of the sun, I could tell that it was around three in the afternoon.

Whenever I would wake up, I had a lingering feeling of confusion and familiarity, but could not remember my dream, nor did I have a feeling strong enough to think to tell my parents of it.

Toward the end of March and the beginning of April, we went on a week and a half long spring/Easter vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The vacation itself was pretty awesome, the cabin we stayed in was fantastic, and I’ll never forget the experience. But the result of the vacation will haunt me for years to come.

When we all returned from vacation, my mother found herself feeling a bit ill. It began to get worse, harder for her to breathe, and she felt very weak. So she kept going to the hospital and various doctors. For a week, they neglected her, and she became so ill that she could hardly stand. Eventually someone took her seriously, and a medical helicopter took her to one of the University hospitals in our state.

She was in a coma for almost a month, fighting for her life. Now, like I said, I was ten years old, so nobody told my younger sister and I what was going on, but I was too smart to believe that my mother was alright. However, I held in my emotions until she woke up, and we were finally allowed to see her. She hugged me and I cried. And then I sat in the windowsill as we all caught up.

I turned to take in her hospital room view… And I felt like I was dreaming again. I get that vacant look on my face, and a fuzzy feeling in my head. There was the roof, the stacks, the plane, the Jeep, and the sun. There was no man, but that was the only difference. My mother noticed the look on my face, and I told her. She didn’t say anything until months later, when she was released from the hospital.

She then told me everything anyone in the family had been able to do. And that’s how I found out about my abilities.
